Hasankeyf Historical and Cultural Heritage Relocation Project

SCROLL DOWN

The centuries-old cultural heritage of the historic district of Hasankeyf has been relocated to a new site using advanced engineering solutions as part of the Ilısu Dam project. To safely lift the structures, project-specific hydraulic jacks and self-propelled modular transporters (SPMTs) were used.

During the operation, which involved the construction of special roads with a maximum gradient of 4.5% and a width of 18 meters, 30% overload tests were conducted prior to transport. Using structural monitoring systems to measure real-time acceleration, a total of 23 historic structures were transported to the Hasankeyf Cultural Park without any damage and placed under protection.
